These terms govern your use of the Scout app and website (together, "Scout"). By using Scout, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use Scout.
1. What Scout does
Scout helps you compare prices for products across retailers, using search or photo-based product identification. Scout displays pricing information gathered from third-party retailers and data providers, and links you to those retailers to complete any purchase.
2. Acceptable use
- Use Scout for personal, non-commercial price comparison, not to scrape, resell, or redistribute Scout's data.
- Don't attempt to interfere with, overload, or reverse-engineer the app or its underlying services.
- Don't use Scout to submit unlawful, abusive, or fraudulent content, including images unrelated to genuine product identification.
- Keep your account credentials, if you create an account, secure and confidential.
3. Pricing accuracy
Scout pulls pricing data from third-party retailers in as close to real time as possible, but prices, availability, and promotions change constantly and are set entirely by the retailers themselves. Scout does not guarantee that a price shown in the app will match the price at checkout on the retailer's site. Always confirm the final price on the retailer's page before completing a purchase.
4. Third-party retailers
When you choose to buy a product, you leave Scout and transact directly with the retailer. Scout is not a party to that transaction and isn't responsible for the retailer's pricing errors, order fulfillment, product quality, customer service, or any dispute that arises from your purchase. Any issue with an order should be directed to the retailer you purchased from.
5. Affiliate disclosure
Scout may earn a commission when you make a purchase through links in the app, at no extra cost to you. This includes participation in affiliate programs such as Amazon Associates and similar retailer partner programs.
This never affects the prices or results you see. Scout does not accept payment to influence rankings, and a retailer paying a higher commission is never shown ahead of a cheaper option because of that commission.
6. Scout Pro subscription
Scout Pro is an optional paid subscription that unlocks additional features. Subscriptions are billed through your app store account (Apple App Store or Google Play), renew automatically until cancelled, and are subject to that platform's billing and refund policies. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time in your app store account settings.
7. Disclaimers
Scout is provided "as is." We work to keep pricing data accurate and current, but we make no warranty that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any price shown is guaranteed to be the lowest available at the moment you check out.
8. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Scout and its founder are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app, including losses related to pricing discrepancies or issues with a third-party retailer transaction.
9. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Scout evolves. If we make material changes, we'll update the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use Scout after changes take effect means you accept the revised terms.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the applicable laws that apply to Scout and your use of the service, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
